"In the department, there are seven teaching staff members, where Mr. Sumitra Nand Srivastava is currently the head of the department. All the faculties are well-qualified. Among them, two teachers hold Ph.D. degrees, while the others are NET qualified. Additionally, four teachers are currently pursuing their Ph.D."

The department offers two types of courses : undergraduate (B.A) and postgraduate (M.A). We have a departmental library that has textbooks and reference books for the benefit of the students.

The department also serves as a research centre of the university. Currently, there are two research scholars in the department conducting research under the supervision of Prof. V.K. Khare, who is a retired HOD. Previously, under the supervision of department faculty members, 12 Ph.D. degrees have been completed so far.

All faculty members of the History department are actively involved in research work. The department's teachers have collectively published more than 50 research papers, with 19 of them being published in various research journals in the last 5 years. Along with research papers, multiple dissertations have also been completed by postgraduate students under the guidance of faculty members. The faculty members are attentive to students, who face challenges in learning, by conducting remedial classes. The faculties use various methods such as group discussions, quizzes, guest lectures, seminars, educational tours to enhance student participation in the learning process. These activities not only promote a deeper understanding of topics but also contribute to long-term retention.

History of the Department

The History department was established in year 1959 along with the inception of the college. In the beginning, the subject was started at graduation level under the headship of Dr. Satya Murty. In the year 1965 Post Graduation (M.A.) affiliation was given by the university (CSJM) to the department. From year 1965 to 1988, there were only two faculty members, Shri J.S. Pandey (HOD) and Shri Ravindra Nigam. In year 1988, Dr. Vijay Kumar Khare was appointed as the lecturer in the department and later on Dr. Alok Kumar Singh joined the department. After the retirement of Shri J.S. Pandey, Mr. Sumitra Nand Srivastava joined the department. Currently there are seven teaching staff members : Mr. Sumitra Nand Srivastava (HOD), Mrs. Monika Gupta, Dr. Reetesh Yadav, Mr. Sunil Kumar Pandey, Mrs. Priyanka Sonwani, Mr. Krishna Dev Yadav and Dr. Sudheer Kumar Verma. All the faculties are well-qualified. Among them, two teachers hold Ph.D. degrees, while the others are NET qualified. Additionally, four teachers are currently pursuing their Ph.D.
