D.B.S. P.G. College, Kanpur, successfully conducted a workshop today on “Sensitizing Teachers to Students’ Mental Health and Well-being.” The program aimed to equip teachers with the necessary tools and knowledge to support the mental health of their students.
The workshop commenced with a serene Saraswati Vandana, invoking blessings for knowledge and wisdom. Principal Prof. Anil Kumar Mishra, in his welcome address, stated, “Today’s workshop is a significant step towards the mental health and well-being of our students. Our teachers are guides in the lives of students, and it is essential for them to be sensitive to their mental health.” He extended a warm welcome to all the teachers, non-teaching staff, and guests participating in the workshop and congratulated the organizers for arranging the program. Workshop Convener Dr. Anita Nigam provided an “Introduction to the Subject,” highlighting the critical need to address students’ mental health in today’s educational landscape.
Dr. Sadhana Yadav, Head of the Psychology Department at Juhari Devi Girls P.G. College, Kanpur, and the keynote speaker of the program, delivered a practical lecture on “Sensitizing Teachers to Students’ Mental Health and Well-being.” Her presentation emphasized the importance of early identification and intervention in students’ mental health issues.
Mr. Hitesh Jaiswal, State Teachers Coordinator for Uttar Pradesh East from the Art of Living Organization, spoke as the chief guest. In his address, he said, “For the mental health of students, teachers should not only impart knowledge but also provide them with an experience of inner peace and spiritual strength. Techniques such as meditation and pranayama should be used to make students stress-free and positive.” He shared valuable techniques and strategies for promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
The workshop was skillfully anchored by Dr. Dipali Dwivedi, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow of events. The program was attended by all faculty members and non-teaching staff of the college, reflecting the institution’s commitment to holistic student development.
The organizing committee, comprising Dr. Gautam Hal, Dr. Tamanna Begum, Dr. Manju Bhaskar, Dr. Gyan Prakash, Dr. Mahendra Kumar, Mr. Shailendra Shukla, Pankaj Nishad, and Mr. Saurabh, played a crucial role in the successful execution of the workshop.
